About Kitchen Remodelers Palo Alto

An independent contractor based at 252 Hawthorne Ave in Palo Alto — no other offices, no parent brand. Palo Alto and East Palo Alto are where we go deepest; we also take on a limited number of projects each year in Mountain View, Los Altos, and Menlo Park. This page is about how the company is set up and the thinking behind it.

Our Approach

The company exists because of a pattern that shows up constantly in this market: national and regional firms advertise a local presence, but rarely field crews who have actually traced a radiant slab loop in an Eichler or sat through a City of Palo Alto plan review. We stay narrow on purpose to close that gap — Palo Alto and East Palo Alto first, with a limited amount of work in immediately adjacent cities, rather than a franchise footprint with a landing page for every town on the Peninsula.

That focus is also why nothing gets quoted from a phone call. A slab-on-grade Eichler and a raised-foundation home in Old Palo Alto call for genuinely different work, and guessing at that difference from a description is how a budget slips. Someone walks the space first, every time.

Why We Stay Small and Local

Close to half the homes here are Eichlers — post-and-beam, slab-on-grade construction with radiant heat tubing cast into the floor, concentrated in tracts like Greenmeadow, Fairmeadow, Green Gables, and Los Arboles. The other half are traditional and historic houses in areas like Old Palo Alto, Crescent Park, and Professorville, where the constraints shift toward permitting, code, and design review. Knowing which rules apply to which street is a full-time habit, not something that survives being spread across a dozen markets.

The Eichler side of that work — where the radiant loops run, why you don’t fish new wiring through the slab — is documented in detail in the Eichler kitchen remodel guide.

How the Business Is Set Up

  • Pricing is published, not gated. Four tiers with real dollar ranges sit on the Cost Guide, so a homeowner can size a project before ever making contact.
  • Permits are handled in-house. Anything touching plumbing, electrical, gas, or structure needs a City of Palo Alto permit and a 6–8 week review — we file and manage it rather than handing it back to the owner.
  • Code issues are raised during scoping. Things like Title 24’s whole-home fixture trigger get flagged before a permit is filed, not after.
  • The design follows the house. Layout is worked out around the actual structure and slab, not carried over from a template.

Why is the primary focus Palo Alto and East Palo Alto?

The housing stock here — Eichler tracts alongside historic and traditional homes — rewards a contractor who knows the specific permit process, tree ordinance, and construction types street by street. That’s the depth we’re not willing to give up, which is why Palo Alto and East Palo Alto stay the focus even as we take on select projects in nearby cities.

Do you only work on Eichler homes?

No. Roughly half the work is Eichler-specific; the rest is traditional and historic homes across the city.
